Application Objectives:
Due to system degradation, the customer’s old induction furnace for copper melting from a different manufacturer used excessive amounts of energy. They were searching for a novel melting solution from LJINDUCTION that would preserve melting quality while drastically lowering power consumption.
During daily production, the customer produced a significant number of faulty copper parts. Previously, these were offered for a low price as scrap. The company’s goal was to melt these faulty copper components and use them again in production because raw material costs are constantly rising.
Process:
The link between melting speed and furnace capacity was used to design a customised coreless induction coil. The output of the current power supply was set to run at about 70%.
50kg of copper were fed into the furnace for the test. Within 34 minutes, the temperature reached above 800°C, and total melting was accomplished.
Results and Conclusions:
The furnace used less energy and produced a steady power output thanks to its IGBT-based induction technology. By turning damaged parts into useable molten material, the melting method allowed for cost-saving production while also satisfying the customer’s needs for copper recycling.
